International Baccalaureate Organization – IBO
Westlink will be working with the International Baccalaureate Organization (Asia Pacific) to become authorized in all 3 programs. The first step is to become a candidate school which will occur in 2022.
The authorization process takes several years, and each of the three programs – the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP) is authorized separately. Once all programs are authorized, Westlink will have the rare distinction of being an IB Continuum School.
Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC)
Westlink will pursue international accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The following is from a letter received from WASC:
The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC), looks forward to working with Westlink International School, in Hanoi, Vietnam, with an emphasis upon an American/international curricular framework using the USA Common Core Standards. As Westlink International School, Hanoi prepares to open the school in August 2022, it will use the ACS WASC research-based criteria/indicators as a critical guide in ensuring the school is meeting worldwide international standards as the first step toward ACS WASC worldwide accreditation. The school will be engaged in reviewing its program in relation to these ACS WASC international criteria and host an initial visit that will result in a report highlighting strengths and growth areas that will be reviewed by the ACS WASC Commission regarding accreditation.
The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, is a world-renowned accrediting association, having accredited over 5200 schools located in California, Hawaii, and worldwide since 1961. ACS WASC works closely with the U.S. State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools as one of the six regional accrediting bodies that authenticate or certify to the public that schools are quality institutions of learning.
