At WIS, all students use English as their main learning language. English speakers can choose to study Vietnamese. Another foreign language might be considered at a later stage.
For students whose English proficiency is not up to the level, as evidenced by the placement test at the time of enrollment or by teachers’ assessment during the academic year, WIS offers an EAL program to develop the four core English Language skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) for academic success.
Students at WIS will have homework assigned regularly throughout the week to revise and consolidate the learning done in class. As students progress, the amount of time spent on homework will increase. Weekly homework time allocation will therefore range from less than 2 hours to more than 10 hours a week depending on the year level and material being covered.
The WIDA English test is used for the placement test. The WIDA is a series of English language proficiency assessments that is used to assess students from Kindergarten through Year 12. Each form of the test assesses the four language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
All classes start at 7:50 a.m. and finish at 2.30 p.m. If students participate in club activities, they will finish at 3:30 p.m.
Students certainly have favorable considerations to move to another school in the ISP network, subject to the destination school’s admission requirements. They also have access to ISP global resources, a global framework of support and participation in international learning opportunities and events.
Yes, a hot lunch and snack(s) are offered daily for all students for a fee.
Our bus service is available for most areas of Hanoi, both one-way pick up or drop off. Each bus will have a bus monitor, who will supervise and support students through every route and directly guide them from home to the bus and vice versa.
To serve the diverse interests and abilities of students, WIS offers a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities. Registration for these clubs is on a voluntary basis and might include sports clubs, chess club, art club, drama/dance club, tech club, etc. Some clubs may carry an extra fee.
