A wonderful journey through the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long with Grade 7 ⛩

Today, Westlink students from Grade 7 had an opportunity to explore the majesty of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long – a symbol of Hanoi that lies in the heart of the city – and its rich historical values as well as cultural significance in today’s society.
Our students followed and listened to a detailed tour that introduced this historical gem all the way back to its first establishment from the Ly Dynasty in the 11th century. Walking through the ancient walls and gates of Kinh Thien Palace and Doan Mon Gate within the citadel’s grounds, they couldn’t help but were in awe of how such complex architectural marvels could withstand so many invasions, conflicts and wars. The most anticipated part must be a chance to visit the underground tunnels that hosted so many important meetings and acted as hiding spots during the Vietnam War.
By embracing the history of our host country – Vietnam and other nations, Westlink International School demonstrates our dedication to fostering a sense of belonging and cultural appreciation among our students. We believe that by honoring and respecting the heritage of Vietnam, we create a learning environment that celebrates diversity, promotes cross-cultural understanding, and nurtures responsible and caring global citizens.
