According to the Westlink Age Placement guidelines, the cut-off date for grade placement is 31 August.
Grade placement decisions are made with the goal of ensuring each child’s academic, social, and emotional success within our programs. Each case is individually assessed to determine the most appropriate grade for the student. Generally, students are placed in the grade level that aligns with their current academic progress, based on the school system they are transferring from.
For students applying from schools with different academic calendars, final grade placement decisions will take into account several factors, including:
- Student’s age
- Type school curriculum studied
- Percentage of the school year the student has completed in his /her/ their last school
- Percentage of the school year remaining in our school calendar
- Student academic performance
- Social and emotional developments
