In Writing lessons, our Grade 5 students practiced spelling by having individualised word lists with a unique spelling focus. Each student wrote their own lists right on their “whiteboard tables” instead of notebooks. This special furniture contains a whiteboard surface that can be written on with dry-erase markers and is indeed revolutionary in getting children excited to brainstorm ideas, practice writing, present their work to teachers, and foster a culture of teamwork and creativity in the classroom.
“My ability to successfully teach spelling has been enriched by a diverse arsenal of programs acquired over the years, each tailored to instruct students on the intricacies of morphology, phonemes, syllables, dictation, and spelling rules. Made all the easier by a new discovery to me – ‘whiteboard’ tables. These innovative teaching tools not only enable teacher modeling and immediate feedback but also align with our commitment to environmental sustainability by reducing paper usage. Together, these tools and strategies empower our students, making education a dynamic and eco-conscious journey.” shares Mr. Martin, our Grade 5 PYP class teacher.”
